Although commonly used in our modern western vernacular, the notion of sacrifice is actually a spiritual one. In its root meaning the word sacrifice simply means to “make sacred” by giving up something one has that is precious and difficult to part with…

After taking action and making sacrifices to achieve our ultimate goal, we must persevere and not give up.

In His writings Baha’u’llah has placed the virtue of perseverance and steadfastness as the next most important step after recognition of God and His will and purpose for His creatures...”
